Research Workshop on Climate Adaptation and Resilience Strategies (CLARS) held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – December 2024 – The Climate Adaptation and Resilience Strategies (CLARS) research workshop was held in Dar es Salaam, bringing together a diverse group of researchers, policymakers, and community stakeholders from across the Lake Victoria Basin (LVB) region. The workshop, took place on 10-11 December 2024 at the Slipway Hotel, and was a pivotal step in refining the project’s research design and methodologies, focusing on climate-induced migration, socio-economic vulnerabilities, and adaptation strategies for communities in East Africa.
The two-day event served as an important milestone for the CLARS project, which aims to better understand the intersection of climate change, migration, and resilience in the Lake Victoria Basin region. The first day of the workshop, dedicated to internal discussions, involved a series of expert presentations by CLARS project partners, setting the stage for practical planning and collaborative research development. The second day, open to external stakeholders, expanded the conversation to include government representatives, civil society organizations, and international development partners, with an emphasis on enhancing research uptake and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.
